I don't know where you are from, but here in Adelaide, South Australia we get a free lesson from our dealers when we purchase a machine. In fact, I got one free lesson on the machine and one free lesson on the software. I suggest you get in touch with your dealer and ask him to run through operations of your machine with you.

Have tried reading the manual for PE-Design. If not you can download it from the brother web site, It should give you details of the program's operations and hot to load the designs and copy them.
Here is a link to the page for the Manual, just select home sewing & embroidery and a new dropdown will show, select PED-Design from there and you will get the manual; but I am pretty sure that your sofware came also with a hard copy. If you need more help just ask. Good luck.

I have a Brother 190D and happened to put designs from a cd this morning. You go to Ped-basic and in the left panel click on the tray, which opens all files, and you will than be able to access everything that's on your cd as well. You don't have to open an individual design, you open the folder and you'll see thumbnails in the left panel. From there you can select all or separate ones, click on the arrow to get them in the right panel and them send them to your card. The explanation is lengthier than the process. Good luck.

welcome to cute - visit often.

There are 2 ways of tranfering a design.

1. To tranfer a design to your card you need to open the program on your pc. Go to file utilty. Click on arrow in "write to original card".This will open another box....click on browse, another box opens with a list of folders, underneath is a driver box, choose which drive your cd is in eg e. Highlight e and click ok...on the left side you'll find all the designs listed on your cd --highlight those you want then click on select which will copy to the right hand side. When you've selected all you need just click on the write button.

2. Open Layout and editing where you will find a blank rectangle in the middle of the screen.Click on file on the top bar then click on Import- youll have 2 choices, click on from file (you can also click on the 3rd icon in on the bar below). A box opens Import from file...Look in your cd drive eg e and the list of designs comes up, click on browse and the design icons appear. You can preview your design here. Import will take the design to that blank rectangle. On file on the top bar click on Write to card (or 6th icon - from left- on the bar below) click and that will copy your design to your card.

Much easier to do than explain. I hope you can understand but that is the way I do it as I have old V2 on my old comp. I have to put all designs onto cd on my newer pc Jo

PED-basic does not have lay-out or editing, it is as the name says basic and you can only write to the original card. So only option #1 is available.
thanks for the info on that Jo x

Open PED Basic and click on the file in the upper top left hand corner. From there you double click on the folder you want to open (cd) and then pick the design you want. Clicking on the arrow between frames will move the design to your card. Put as many on as will fit, then click the arrow at the bottom of the second frame. This will write the designs you have selected to your card. You can then use the card in your machine.
