Center on your hoop. I use sticky paper AND pins. Just be careful that your pins don't get in the way and if they look like they will just baste with thread. I always print out my design on paper to see if it will fit and not look too big or too little, and it also gives you a center point. You will also need to use FrayCheck or something similar to keep the ends neat. I treat them and let them dry before I take the ribbon off the paper. You can leave the ribbon out of the hoop entirely or you can catch it in the top and bottom, your choice. Use a new SHARP needle. Number75/11 works just fine.;)

Thank you so much for asking this. I am working up the nerve to try this on some ribbon I brought for a dress for the baby girl, that I babysit with, for her Easter dress that I am going to make out of a oneies.
