I have found that sometimes it works, but if a design is dense, you can get a real mess. Be sure to try it on a sample before you get on your main project! Good luck!

It does not work well... I tried it for a little work and it was a waste of time and energy... I used embroidery thread for sewing and it was breaking all the time. Pat

no no no no you really need bobbin thread it's thinner than even embroidery thread, you can buy them prewound on ebay, I get mine there - great deal, or your dealer or you can buy a spool of bobbin thread and wind em yourself. Have fun

You should use the same color on a design that is being seen from both sides. Such as Free Standing Lace designs, if the designs has the back showing use the same thread. I also find it helpful to use the same color on some fonts. (they sometimes pull the bobbin to the top at the edge of the letters) But, a regular stitch out on a piece of clothing, quilt, etc. I would use bobbin thread. Hope this helps. Sue *4U

No idea if the pre wound coloured ones are bobbin thread or just pre wound embroidery thread. I use bobbin thread - it's cheaper, it's thinner - unless I want the wrong side to be just as nice as the front - for FSL, for transparent or semi transparent items such as sun catchers. I just wind it on a bobbin and use it. It works fine for me.

when I do a kind embroidered monogram to the former, always use the same thread for embroidery and bobbin. So if I have a little problem of tension, the bobbin thread is not on top :o)

pre wound is bobbin thread even in colors. Better to use that. BUT if I just can not find one to match, I have wound my own. But would test it first. AND slow down the machine.

Colored bobbin thread is 60wt or above. Regular embroidery thread is 30wt or 40wt. It is acceptable to use regular embroidery thread in your bobbin. I do it alot, especially when doing nice hand towels or anything that will show both sides. Bobbin thread is 1)cheaper and 2)thinner so you can get more sewing time out of a bobbin. So, the answer depends on the project that you are working on and if you would use up colored bobbin thread if you invested in it. Your call. Hope this is helpful.;)
