My Mom rinses her sinuses with a netti pot...I can't do it! But I know that if I cover my head with a towel over a sink of HOT water it usually loosens things up. (I also used the Johnsons Soothing Vapor BABY Bath)...Pamper yourself!

It is really about the same thing. This one is like a bottle. I have the pot to. But I like the bottle better for me. My daughter works for a doctor, she says she uses it everyday, just like brushing her teeth. She says my nose has to be clean too.
TU ladies...I remember my mother use to show me this way. I guess I need some patience...YUCK ;D *2U

well if it's your nose that's stopped up, try to cut some onions,do this in a little open dish.the smel of the onions can open your nose. and take vitamine C, fresh fruit etc.the tip with a bowl of hot water and your head above this covered with a towel is already given,Hope it works for you!

TU Gerry...is this a trick? I LOVE onions! After I smell the onions, than I got to fry them. I see your not going to let me starve this cold...ROFL ;D *2U
it's an old trick, when my children had catched a cold and their nose was stopped up I put a little dish with cut onions near their bed as they went to sleep. I admit everythings smels to onions but it worked. They could breath better! and now my son does the same for his kids, realy!!

lbrow,RN Saline Nasal Spray is great and inexpensive, it helps thin the mucus, kills bacteria/germs & helps sinuses drain. Drink, drink, drink lots of fluids also thins the mucus. I also use Afrin nasal mist to open the nose but it shouldn't b used more than once n 12 hrs. This is a must because more often than that causes what they call rebound making it worse. Warmth to the face helps. If u have fever with this u definitely need to see a Dr. or if u start having a cough along with fever. Get plenty of rest & try not to give it to rest of fmly. * Monica I hope u r feeling better soon.

Personally, I think the best thing is for your husband to take over all the household chores, fix you a hot dinner, rub your feet, and make you many cups of hot tea or lemonaid! What do you think??

I went to med school and had couple classes left to graduate, so I am not qualify to give out prescrition. But from engineer point of view, I took sudafe which has decongestion in it and did not need prescrition to buy. You do need to present your driving license at the check out counter.
Hope you recover soon.

At the first sign of a cold, I dose up on Vitamin C and Echinacea. I also add Zinc.

TU...I think I passed the first sign...LOL I have those at home expect Zinc ;D *2U
My routine is the same as Jerilyn's - Echinacea and Vit C. We get a liquid version here called triplex by Greenridge which we have found to be brilliant, knocks colds really quickly! Olive Leaf extract is also great. The other thing I do is use Essential oil of Lemon and Lavendar in a burner in the house - helps clear the air and stop others getting it too. Eucalyptus oil in a bowl of water with a towel over your head can help with immediate relief too. Hope you feel better soon. :) (I'm not a medic, just a Mum!)
