I designed the very first version of this owl-in-a-tree over 40 years ago, in an art class at school, for a lino-cut printed book cover! I have recently revamped it and added a Brownie trefoil and my Brownie name to it and stitched it onto a fleece jacket. The girls think it's wonderful and the other "Owls" (Brown, Tawny and Barn) all want me to make them one, so I thought I should share it with you too. I've added it to my website http://hands-and-heart.bravehost.com under "miscellaneous;" the zip file doesn't have any text or the trefoil on it so it can be used by anybody - just choose what colour owl you'd like. As always on my site, it's for a 4" hoop and in DST, HUS, JEF SEW and PES formats and it's FREE!

Just checked it - the owl link was on the text "click here" bit but somehow the bears link was still there in the space after that! I've fixed it now.

I love owls - we have barking-owls in this area and farmers are encouraged to put nesting boxes in trees to encourage more into the district to help keep pests out of paddocks and sheds. Your design is very nice.Thank you so much for sharing.

Barking owls sound fascinating - we don't have those here in the UK, although we do have several other species of owls!

You're very welcome. You can make it any kind of owl - I did a Snowy Owl because I'm Snowy Owl to the Brownies but I'll soon be doing a Brown Owl, a Tawny Owl and a Barn Owl because the other three Brownie leaders keep pestering me! :-)

http://hands-and-heart.bravehost.com; I've pulled it back up to the top of the Bookmarks section too, although I doubt if it will stay there long! (It is in the desription here too, but perhaps there's too much text! Sorry!)
