Here's what my dh did for me. Dowload everything into one main folder. Use your software to scan each file BEFORE you open it (most all patterns are good but every now and then....) Then set up another folder with your opened files. Save the ones in your format to a specific file, i.e. BIRDS, or FLOWERS, etc. then move em into those folders as you go and you'll always have easy and fast access to your files and know where to find exactly what you're looking for. Then save your zipped folders to a disk or seperate drive and you'll never have to worry about losing them in a crash. At least this is what I've done and I've got thousands of patterns and can find just about anything in a snap. The only thing I didn't allow for was where I got the pattern - you may want to add this somehow. I never did. Have fun and enjoy whatever method you use, I'm sure some other cuties will have others methods you may want to try.

Ummm, a little excited, are we? Hee hee hee, don't blame you a bit, actually. If you're talking about downloading from Cute, first make a folder called Cute Embroidery. I have one for Embroidery, and one for Cute Alphabets, separately. Makes it easier when you're looking for an alpha. Make subfolders in Cute that make sense to you. If you want all 'flowers' together, or if you want 'roses' 'cross stitch flowers', whatever way you think about and use designs. I then just download the design right into the folder where it will live. Sometimes, because I have lots of storage space, I'll download something in two places, like maybe once in 'roses' and once in 'cross stitch flowers' to make sure I can find what I'm looking for. Don't over exercise your clicking finger all in one night. You have six months to download them and just keep up with the new ones added. :) Have fun. They are all lovely designs.

Start with Cute Embroidery, then sufolders, floral, etc. I have a cute folder ,under cutfolder I'll; have like fonts, then Sakura where I put all the sakura fonts & african where I put all the african fonts etc. this way I know what came from cute Embroidery site. then there is Amazing designs folder I proceed the same way as with Cute to sub folders, this way u know where the files came from. Happy DLing *

First I dowmload the zip into a folders named after the designer or website name.
Then I copy the one file format I want into another set of folders organized by subject categories.
I do a external hard drive backup of both main folders.

Well, I am not a computer saavy person so I didn't start out correctly. I have a folder "EMBROIDERY"<br />on my desk top. When I down load they go in there. Inside there I have sub folders with animals, floral,<br />transportation, etc. I went into my computer and changed my PES icon to a really vibrant colored one so when I go to download the pattern it really stands out from the rest. That is for patterns with multiple formats inside. After saving my pattern, I right click on the picture and save it in the same area so I know what it looks like. Some sites do not allow you to save the picture.<br />After I get a few designs of one type, I DL them onto a cd and free up my laptop so it doesn't slow down too much, otherwise with all the designs and freebies you get, you will be slow.

I download to a folder with designers name then e.g. 'Cute Embroidery Designs' then subfolders e.g. redwork, FSL, Designs, Alphabets. etc. In the designs folder i have sub folders e.g. animals, flowers, angles, bears ornaments etc. the same with Alphabets, sub folders eg. snowflakefont, schoolfont, sakurafont etc. I also keep all zipped files the same way as I may one day change my machine or the design may develope a fault.
