I made a purse using a vinyl that had been pressed to look like leather. I use a regular needle and just treated it like normal material. Used a cutaway for the embroidery design area for stability. Good luck with your project. Sue

I saw a purse Janice Stewart had done on a purse she got at a yard sale! It was beautiful. She did take out the side seam, then resewed it. But she used a needle for leather & did slow the machine down. Let us know how your bowl cover does! The purse was NOT leather, but vinyl.

Hi Pauline, I use a leather needle when stitching Vinyl, Ordinary sewing, I also use a presser foot for slippery material, unlike leather that is more difficult because it sticks.
For embroidery I would choose a design that is not so dense (or remove some underlay stitching) as it could go into big holes and I would probably use a layer of WSS on top and use a spray bottle or roll deodorant filled with water to remove it later.
Now I really must go and lay down as I'm feeling quite YUK!

Yes it's possible. An ordinary embroidery needle is fine. See that the picture is not too dense. You can hoop it as normal or use adhesive spray on top of a good stabilizer. I did some chaircovers with logos on for a friend and it came out beautiful.

I bought a vinyl pencil case and opened it up and did bratz design on it and I treated it the same as normal but did not hoop it and used sticky stabilizer to hold it in place

Good Luck...I know I tried it ONE time and ended up with 2 pieces....1 of embroidery and the other was the vinyl...stitched a lovely HOLE!

Dear Pauline, I used a thick tear away for stabilizer, regular needle #11 and a layer of WSS on top to embroider vinyl raincoats. That worked well for me.

according to my husqvarna dealer you really can't embroidery directly on the vinyl or leather for that matter, you need to stitch your design like a patch, cut it out then stitch onto your vinyl. Good luck....

Pauline, I have embroidered on vinyl with my Baby Lock Ellisimo and didn't have one problem... I would suggest double stabilizer and slowing your machine down. Good luck.
