Well, thank you! I clicked around the pages & learned something new!! My dad's family came from the Netherlands many, many years ago. But I guess they were poor...nothing remains in the family except the beautiful blue eyes!!

We have some little places in The Netherlands that have nice art work. I will add some more links to show to you. The first link is from a pottery in the North of the Netherlands. The second link is from a famous pottery in Delft close to Rotterdam. Hope you like it.

Hindeloo9pen is a small (and I mean SMALL) city in Friesland, part of the Netherlands. Their designs are special to that town and district and can hardly be found anywhere else. Originally the paintwork was done on cheap furniture to make it look better; when wages were higher it became a luxury thing: so only oak was used. During the 70s it suddenly became the handicraft every selfrespecting man and woman wanted to excel in: clothes brushes, serving trays, wooden coathangers,old clogs that had been used in the garden, every wooden object you could think of was sanded down, painted and decorated in the typical Hindelooper colours. Did not last long, no wonder, as the real thing is much more elaborate than the 70s products. There's a museum in Hindeloopen with extremely beautiful examples, old and new (and very expensive) and demonstrations are given. Nice to go and see.
