Tajima is a free conversion program that is great and easy to use. I believe it's the same program as ambassador.
I use it all of the time.

before I got my embrird I used Wilcom truesizer. It is free and is pretty good. Just be aware not to rezise the designs too much as it will not adjust the stitch density.

and it is really good. I must try the truesizer again. I did down load it but not knowing how to digitize i did not know how to use it.
Tajima is great because you can save different machine embroidery ie pes. hus. jef. sew. to which ever you need.
