I'm using the lightening bolt module to do this. It seems when I digitize their examples of butterflys etc, it works fine. But when I try to do mine, it doesn't work. It doesn't work for photographs either which I was told it would do by the dealer.
Am I trying to do something that the program is not designed to do?

I'm not a 4D user, but I think Martine is, hope she sees this. Will your dealer answer questions for you, or do they have classes in the software? I'm spoiled, my dealer does. Good luck to you! And welcome to Cute. Marji

Thanks, I hope Martine sees this too. I'm pulling my hair out. I'm worried that I just spent thousands of dollars on something that won't do what I need it to do.
Thanks Marji,

I don't know if an embroideryprogram digitizes as well. I have an embroideryprogram but that doesnot digitize. I have to buy another program for that. And as Marjialexa said, the dealer gives classes or workshops to learn how to use machines, software and techniques. By the way, welcome to cute, hope you will find your answers here and a lot more.

I have 4D embroidery, I don't use it as I should becasue I just don't have time right now. I did take 1 class which was free. There are classes at your dealer, you just need to have time to go to them. Save some time and call your dealer and ask them if this program has the ability to digitize your work. It does digitize JPEG files. Good Luck

Hi, thank you
Unfortunately, my dealer does not have classes. I went to sit with the manager last Saturday and she was reading the book trying to figure it out. Geeze, I love her, she's great, but no knowledge of software at all.
So, do you know who to digitize the jpeg files? I've tried to do that over and over again and can't. When I work with their files I can but not mine. My drawings are perfectly pathed out, like a stained glass window, just like their samples. But it won't do it properly.
Thanks for your help

I have 3D Pro, which is the complete set. In 3D you need more than the basic embroidery programme, you must have Digitizing to do any of your own artwork. I think 4D Embroidery has limited digitizing possibilities, but you need Digitizing to do more than simple clipart. The program takes several formats (.bmp, .jpg, .jif, .jpeg, .png, . tiff, .tif, .wmf, .emf and .ico) - there might be even more in 4D - but the size is important too, and I can't find that just now. Look in the manual and you'll see if yours is too big.

Digitizing: Is that what you call it when you covert a drawing into stitches so that you can put the design in the machine and it knows what to embroider?
With my machine and software, I get one call to tech support, so I'm guessing this is going to be the call.
Thanks

I believe you have to have at least the 4D Extra to do any digitizing. It is all automatic. Once you bring it back up as a design you can do some editing of the design. I understand you need the 4D Pro to do what many of the folks here are doing. I have the 4D Extra and have created 2 designs somewhat successfully but not ones that I would want to share since they have mistakes and I haven't worked with it enough. The picutres of them are way back in the projects section.

Hi and welcome to Cute. Reading below your dealer has no idea. If they are a good dealer then they aught to know where you can get answers to your question. I have a journey of 2 plus hours each way to my dealer. The result is that I have a quality service, people know about this shop for miles. It is not only the sale of something BUT the quality of the aftercare/afterservice that counts. Anyone call sell stuff. If it was me in your position I would go back and ask/pester until I got the answers or to be sent somewhere that does. After all anything to do with buying a embroidery machine and softwear doesnot come cheaply. Sorry about the rant. This is a brilliant site with a wealth of info from all over the world. Someone will give you exactly the answer you need. Happy sewing

I have 3D pro, but have done very little digitizing.
Do know that the lines must be just so for the embroidery to take and wonder if it is your drawing program. 4D is automatic I have heard.
there is a Husqvarna Yahoo group, that can give you all the help.will try to find it and post it

I have just gone to the group as I am still a member.
Get the following as url
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Designer1/?yguid=195301952
though it says Designer 1, it deals also with all software questions. Good luck

Which version of 4D Software do you have? I have 4D Extra, and as my machine is still at the Dr.'s I can not test sew anything out to see what I am doing right or wrong! But Extra is to be able to digitize a pic that you draw or D/L. I have done the ones on the software and the free ones from the internet, but haven't tried to draw one yet, but hope you get a good answer, cause I plan to draw my own things! AND Welcome to you, *4U and all

I have 4D Pro and I haven't had the chance to really play with it. I belong to a yahoo group that might help you with this. I will attach a link to her yahoo group and hopefully someone can help you out.
