Jo it really depends on the size vase you will be displaying and the size of the arrangement...I would say at least 8 to 10 inches from the center:)

That falls in the dinner plate size, good. Thanks, Jo

My suggestion would be to place the cloth on a table and set it as if you were entertaining, check to see where you will have space available for designs, after you have all your favourite china, cutlery, drinkware, condiments, etc. all set up.

I'm afraid I'm rather boring, I always only decorate the border. LOL!

Never boring! Just less time on the planning, and right to the embroidering. I'd love to set the table, only I'm in NJ, and the table is in NC. thanks, Jo

It is really up to you where you want to put them. I have done them and decorated the outer edge and also done the designs so that they lay on the outer edge of the top of the table. In other words, if the top of the table is 48" then from the very center point to the edge is 24". I would layout the design so that the bottom of the design would be 21" from the center of the cloth. Make sense? Or you can just randomly scatter them all over.;)

I'd put a dinner plate on the table and place my design above them, leaving the centre free. And I like to decorate the border of the cloth as well, maybe with some smaller designs - or the other way round.

Now that's a good idea, always have the template at hand. Thanks. Jo

Hi jofrog, I did as round tablecloth and I put a paisley openwork design all around in a circle. I wish I could let you see it. Ok I will put it on the project space. Love Marie.
