My grandson is in kindergarten and got a plain black backpack. Thoughts and ideas on decorating? He loves dinosaurs and Legos. Should I use patches instead of embroidery directly so I don’t ruin the waterproof? Maybe a key fob or eyelet dangler/charm?

Hi Sewmom, I prefer to make patches, that way you can remove them as their taste changes. Of course that is presuming that the bag is still in good condition. Any of the current charms etc. would also be a great idea. Love Chris

I did one for my daughter's lunch bag several years ago. I need to pull out my notes because that one worked really well. It might be in projects here. I'll have to look.
