I need to really buckle down and get this quilt done, crib bumper pad and the afaghan done by Sunday (for the shower). First I ran out of thread couldn't find matching one until QTe Sally helped direct me. Then I ran out of yarn a few minutes later ...
So hear I sit in the very dim light (so as not to wake the DH)
responding, DL, and crocheting my heart out to the rain falling.

for the past few months all i have been doing is downloading designs, i do some here and there but i have a quilt to finish and i just can't finish it. i would love to sew at nights when i can not sleep but the machines echo through the house and hubby being a light sleeper would hit the roof. so yes i procrastenate all the time. what a waste of a day!!!! i really need to meditate and clear my mind and do one thing at a time. Sewing!!! is the most important because what is the point of all those designs if i never finish anything.

this is what i do...i down load at night with a cup of chocolate and try to sew in the morning before work when people are up....my machine is temporarily in the bedroom next to the bed, so i can't at night either...lol

You are NOT alone...I have a craft show this saturday and I have 7 sweatshirts that need "something"...I am stitching TODAY...come He** or High Waters...more like High Waters with all the rain we have had in the last 2 days!!!I also have to have a sweater finished by saturday that I have ripped out the front 2 times...I'm down to the last inches of yarn and no more to be had!!! So don't think you are alone out there.......

Well good luck dear - just start with one thing - concentrate on it - then do another - I know when you run out of supplies that always puts another angle on it - but try to look foward and don't get caught like that again. Work on the quilt, crib bumper pad and afaghan - one at a time - if that is doing one of them for a hour then the next - then rotate back through - with this time line - you either get them finished or not have them at all. It truly is your choice. A half hour here or there is better than not at all. Forget about getting online for a day or so - it all will be there - when you return. Good luck.

i thought i had enough thread, didn't realize those monkeys took so much since they aren't whole ones. the thread got into a knot i could get out so that was there.

Actually I work better, more concentrated, with a deadline coming up. But I usually pay the price afterwards; better to take some rest however short every couple of hours - just a cuppa in an easy chair or a bit of leg movement around the house -, but I normally don't and end up with a very stiff and painful back for days. You'd think I would have learned to do things otherwise by now... Success with your tasks!!

How about starting something before you get one thing done. I have enough projects going to keep me busy for the rest of my life. Married to a guy that never starts anything before he finishes what he is doing. So he doesn't understand me at all!!!!!!!!

oh sweetie!!! I hate to work under pressure. I make more boo boos when I get in a hurry. I remember when my daughter was in college and I would sew all week and she would come home on the week ends and try on. I was in a hurry to finish a sun dress that had two big pockets on the front. I had her try on and One pocket was in the front and one was on the back. We both sat down and laughed!!!

Last week I finished a quilt just minutes before the shower....I only had 9 months to work on it...I was so worn out getting the gift ready I didn't want to go to the shower...but I had too. I went with a smile but couldn't wait to get home...ugh1

I just made a baby quilt for a shower gift within a week for a friend of my daughters. Started from scratch and when top was done, loaded it the day before on the longarm machine. Did the binding the night before she needed it. Boy, what we get ourselves into.LOL

I can see right now that I am in the perfect place. I have banned myself from my machine until house work gets done (ya know the kind where your clean stuff out and throw away what you haven't seen in two years). But I did now ground myself from the computer and I think that is next. Can't get anything done for dld. Oh, I so belong here.

Its always more fun to start a new project, but after you get into it and almost done, you start another fun project with enthusisiam. However that will soon join the other million projects started and never finished. I have a baby quilt started but have forever to finish it becasue there is no baby involved. First there has to be the proposal and then the wedding and then the baby. These are all in the works by my son in the next stage of his life. Im getting ready though lol, becasuae it may take that long to finally finish a project.

This is one of the best questions ever !!! I am so glad I am a Cute member, because you are all talking my language. Here I am sitting on a free from classes day, and what am I doing? Looking for anything I can on the computer (and even this seems too much). The sewing (mine), embroidery for others, and not to mention the housework, is staring me in the face all the time. I am so glad I am not the only one who is sitting here, not feeling like doing what -must- be done !!!! I always say I do my best work when the Adrenaline is pumping, which means the "night before deliverring". I just had to call my DH to show him all your responses, just so he could see it happens to all of us. Ha, ha. * for all of you

I have so many unfinished projects around here. I get bored of one thing and move on to another. ANd I just never seem to get around to finishing anything. UGH! SO...You are certainly not alone!

So glad to hear this!!! My favorite thing is starting new projects, & now that I have discovered this place, I get even less finished.( Except downloading designs) I have a neighbor who doesn't sew & thinks I am out of my mind. But she is always bored. (I don't have time to be bored)
