My daughter now lives in Texas. She said she had been seeing a lot of flower brooches and wanted me to make her some. Here are a couple that I made yesterday. They are great fun.

nice how do you make it?*

First you cut out a flower shape from organza or some other very sheer fabric. I made my shape have five petals. You cut out five or six of these. Then, cut out five or six of the same shape but in a smaller version. Now, is the fun part. You light a candle and you gently melt the edges above the flame. It makes the fabric curl and twist in the most wonderful way. You then assemble the pieces starting with the smaller pieces first. You then sew a button or beads or whatever in the middle to connect all the pieces and a brooch pin to the back. All Done.
WOW!
Knowing my luck with matches - I'd most probably burn the whole lot. These are beautiful - great job. Love and blessings Chris
Also a warm welcome to you - love Chris
thank you*

This is lovely, but the local fire department forbids me from burning fabric of any kind!!!!! A story for another day.;)

You don't really burn the fabric. The heat of the candle melts it, but I bet that story is a great one!

I gave some instructions in an answer to "modo". They are really fun to make. I had never made them before and this was my second one, so they are very easy to do for I am not an artist!!!

Your flowers are really pretty. I'd be interested in how you make these. Do you have directions, or did you go to a web site that teaches you how these are done? They look so pretty...and make me think of Spring.

If you scroll down this page to modo and click on see all replies, you'll see directions on how to do one. This was just my second one. They are fun to do and very simple with terrific results.
