happens and it wont go away! I haven't noticed this on any other Q or A's so I have been hesitant to do much. Am I doing something wrong?

Chemille you probably spell and type better than me, I use that edit feature all the time. But I believe it is only available to the original person who posted the message.

Sometimes you respond and submit and then you realize you made a mistake and want to fix it. You can click edit and fix it but I think it is only for a short time.

No, it gives you the chance to alter what you have written or add extra. It is useful if you see you have written a spelling mistake or have found further information to add
