stitching - fine - then all hell breaks loose. I wind up with this massive lump of thread under my hooped fabric. I stop remove, rehoop, rethread, reinstall the bobbin, even back out and then re-enter the embroidery section. Even went to far as to shut the machine completely off. Took apart all that is take apartable (not a real word) and cleaned everything, put it all back together even went to a different pattern and WHAM the same thing happened again, I even slowed the machine down.......So I Quit! (at least for today) any suggestions? I've got the Husqvarna Designer 1 USB and usually it is a dream......I'm so frustrated...........please help me.........sniff sniff

check under the bobbin, you might have some threads stuck in there. take off the foot plate and clean real well. Might have some lint too. Make sure your needle is ok, change it and rewind a new bobbin.

I was told too that the store bought wound bobbins are not good to use. They may be too tight.

Mine done that when I was using the wrong size bobbins. I had purchased some prewound bobbins, BIG mistake. Hope this helps,

They told me on my Brother that the plate might be nicked and then it needs to be replaced. Mostly I think like the others that you will need new needle, different bobbin, and clean, clean, clean bobbin area.

When this happened on my machine, the tension had broken inside the machine where you can't get to it. (Brother) Thank goodness it was still under warranty because they replaced it free.
One other thing you can try - carefully check the bobbin holder for nicks or scratches. If you find one you can usually fix with a nail file.

Ok step away from the machine...breath IN...breath OUT...I would try a different piece of fabric, different color thread and a completely NEW bobbin...then IF ya still have trouble...do the old phone company trick...place the machine in a large bag and twirl it over your head 5 times...then take it to the dealer and have it repaired!!!

The vision of someone with their machine in a large bag twirling it over their head leaves a lot to the imagination. Plus sore arms etc. And then the precious machine would be in need of the dealer and repair. Thanks for the laugh

these machines are so heavy we could never put them in a bag and twirl them even an inch... that is a funny thought..take it to the dealer for a tune up.. you will be happy when you get it back.. in the mean time do something else.. I know it is hard.. but try.. garden or read or just breath..
guess taking it in is the only resort left to me, I've tried absolutely everything, it sews terrific, just won't embroider......

You'r in luck to have company today, my Husq desided to do the same thing, I did some lace designs, the first set went great, come the second set, BAM!!!! Thank you for posting this question, I was in need of help too.

I too had this happen to me, I have a Viking Designer SE w/USB - I cleaned the bobbin, I rethreaded, I shut down and started up again...well, I did everything I could think of...soooooo it's off to the dealer I went, about an hour away. He fixed it in 5 minutes!!! He took apart the piece that has the tension disks and there it was...a clump of threads. Then he did a quick clean/blowing throughout and she was good as gold again. He showed me how to hold, push/pull and dislodge this piece in case I have this happen again. Hope this helps...

First thing I'd try is to clean under the plate, then re-thread; failing that it could be that if you've turned the needle by hand & back again it might not be quite in the right position; when the machine starts the needle can hit the bobbin case & put a nick in it causing your needle to catch on it when sewing & bundle up your thread. If it keeps happening take it in to your dealer so you don't get the frustration, etc. Rather pay a few bucks for a repair than wreck the machine *:*

The only other thing that I might suggest - that hasn't already been covered is to change the needle and make sure that the thread is not twisted around something - that you might not notice - otherwise. Good luck - I hope you don't have to wait to take it in to the dealer - but test stitch some regular stitching before you start another of your quilt pieces - just to be safe - it is not a quarantee - but that is also something that the dealer/service man would do, too. Have a cuppa and relax - before you get back to the project. *4U

All good answers so I'll just send you a cuppa and a piece of Date & walnut slice.
Now run your finger all around inside the bobbin area and needleplate, check for nicks. Hopefully you'll find one and once you file it back it will solve your problems.

when I had that problem my dealer told me to use a smoother threas and chang the needle and it worked.
