I hope this will help you:
FSL - is stitched on a water soluble stabilizer and when you finish sewing it out then you place it in water and the stabilizer disolves and you are left with a beautiful lace piece.
Cutwork - is stitching on fabric and water soluble stabilizer - stich an area - remove the hoop and cut the fabric away from the outlined area - leaving the stabizer in tact - return the hoop to the machine and continue stitching - repeat as necessary for the design - When you are finished remove the water soluble stabilizer and you will have a pretty design with open areas see through areas.
Hope this helps you!
