why not use the idea from pennyfold and then simply needle felt some hair onto the head or glue some fur fabric in place to make a hairy granpa totaly. personalised and such good fun to create. google needle felt for info. yoiu only need a felting needle and some bits of knitting wool for this small item.

Oh, wouldn't this be great, an old man digitized with the "hair" done in fringe, you could use grey thread? C'mon digitizisers, where are you? This would be a really funny idea, if you could do the cartoony artwork, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji
