I've had problems when my stabiliser was not drum tight. Otherwise a good design did not give any problems.

I've had trouble like Martine suggests with loose stabilizer, but also try hooping two layers (maybe even 3 if it's very delicate lace). I also don't use the solvy plastic kind... only mesh.

If you have a good digitized lace design you should not have any problems using 2 layers of WSS (water soluable stablizer). Make sure its taunt on the hoop. I use same thread in bobbin and top. If you do have problems, address the issue with the designer or where you got the design from. They are always helpful. But generally a good digitized lace design will not come apart after rinsing it out.

Moncia, a good digitized design would never fall apart if hooped correctly - have you contacted the dealer? I hate to hear that you are having trouble with your lace designs - tell us more so that we can help - is there something that hasn't been address here? I use two layers of the mesh WSS stabilizer on almost every lace item that I stitch, unless it is extra dense - then I will float an extra layer under or on top of the hoop. You have good advice - what else can we help you with? *4U

FSL designs must be digitized in such a way that the "lacey" part stitches are integrated together. If the stabilizer is not kept tight, these stiches may not overlap each other and thus will not be locked in so they do not fall apart. I am lucky to have Digitizer Pro and can look at all of the stiches, amend as necessary, and even do a simulated stitchout. Hope this helps. Janet

Only one I had fall apart was one I forgot was NOT free standing lace! What a shock to have it become a pile of thread in you hand! So not I always make my files "FSL" and if that's not on there & I can't find where I got it to check, I do it on a thin fabric & cut the fabric away (like organza).

i use 2 layers of the mesh also but sometimes it is not u it is how it was digitized

i have only had that happen once to me and it was not my fault at all. it was the digitizer it was not fsl like advertised. i use 2 sheets of water soluble stabilizer. it works out very well.

I'm wth the rest of the folks. The only design I had fall apart was said to be FSL by the digitizer, but it was not. Otherwise, if it is digitized properly, it has never been a problem for me.
