better if I use a plain tear away and spray adhesive? I know to use the wws on top just don't want to have to pick out the back and pull loops by accident.
Sorry to ask, I know we've covered this before but I couldn't find the post.

I use a medium tear away stablizer in the hoop ... pin the towel on top of hoop...then use water sol. on top of towel...you can also float an additional tear away under hoop if necessary. Always works for me

i never use a spray adhesive with my terry - to easy to pull those terry threads. I pin onto my hooped tear away and put to layers of the WSS topping on top. *4U

Shirlene, What means the word "terry" I have not found it in my dictionnary?
I'm not Shirlene, but it's that material towels & wash clothes are made of. It's a loopy like material. We often shorten our words..like terry instead of terry cloth..which is so confusing to other languages! Glad you asked!!!

I do the same as Shirline and Linda, except I use a heat soluable topping instead of water soluable. The unexposed part of the topping stays underneath the design to keep the terrycloth from coming through the stitches once it's been washed.
I've done them both ways and it's amazing the difference after several washings.

The heat soluable doesn't go away in the dryer?
I've used it once before on a bridal veil and it was hard to get the right heat setting without singeing. How do you figure that out?

No, it doesn't go away in the dryer. It takes a hot iron to "vaporize it". The one I use says to use the "silk" setting with steam. However, I find my iron is not as hot as the ones we use in classes, so I have to turn it up a bit. You don't touch the fabric, just hover over it. Check the directions for the brand you use. I think a veil would be to sensitive to that high of a heat, but it's fine for towels.

I use the woven solvy hooped , place the towel in position then basste anothe layer of solvy on top. Good luck with all these hints :)

I tried a new product called wash away tearaway. You tear as much away from around the design then as you wash it the other disolves away. It works wonderful I is from Inspira. I dont hoop just pin and of course water so on top.

Thank you for all those interesting advice.For embroidering towels, I do not use self adhesive, or spray adhesive but after fixing with pins, as says shirlene, and just before beginning the embroidery, I make a basting tread, so I can remove the pins and the towel is well tied to the stabilizer which is in the hoop.I hope that you can understand what I have written because i had difficult to explain.

I do not use any kind of sticky on my towels. Tear away on back. WSS on top. I pin towel on the hooped stabilizer first, then baste & take out pins & embroidery. This works well for me. *

Add my voice to pinning and basting in the hoop! Looks like not many like the results from the sticky. Yes, it DOES pull some of the loops.
