little bit when the washer is not in use. If you don't it will grow mold and smell terrible. I bought 2 quarter size suction cup and I wrapped a small peice of wire around the top of each cup. Next a attached a piece of twine about 5 inchs long to the wire on one of the cups and a put a loop on the other end. I put one suction cup on the door and the other on the the front of the machine. I made a loop in the wire without the string. Now when I finish using my washer I loop the string over the wire . It allows me to keep the door open about 4 inches, just enough to keep the air moving but yet the door is not all the way open where it would be hit every time someone passed it.P>S> I live in Arkansas where the humidity is high.

I remember when mine was in use everyday but now it's just hubby and me so I wash 1 day a week.

They say it cost 2 humdred dollars to replace the rubber gasget if it molds. I would much rather spend that money on fabric or designs.lol

Yes, my late husband bought me my first front loader when we got the new place, and I found that out the hard way! I call it my "magic washer", because when I first got it, of course I had to watch it work. So I sat on a stool in front of it like an Amishman at the fair. And I kept calling to my husband, "there's no water in there!!!". But the clothes would come out clean. These new applicances are amazing. I remember my Mom having an old wringer washer when I was a kid, so she was just as amazed when she got her first "automatic" washer. How far we've come in so little time. Just amazing! Thanks for the tip, when I go to use the washer there's usually a cat sleeping in it, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji

That's the problem with them: cats and kids love to crawl inside them. However, their water intake is very low and that's nice even when your water is not metered (ours is).
Mine wont close unless you know how. Help prevent and thing from getting locked in it.

Neat idea NMM I know how Ark. is. Ala. humidity is just as bad if not worse. Use to go through Little Rock, Ft. Smith, West Memphis etc. taking I40 to Okla. *

Thanks for sharing this..I never stopped to think about that..My daughter has a problem with her towels smelling "mildewey" (I know that's not actually a word) after washing and drying them and never thought maybe this could be the source of the smell.. she never lets them sit in the washer but none the less they always seem to pick up that smell. I will pass on the infor..thanks for sharing.

I love this place ....after reading your suggestion Paula, I hopped into the laundry room to check to make sure the door was still ajar, find sometimes when someone else uses the machine (not mentioning any names mind you LOL) he doesn't always remember to leave the door ajar, your idea sounds great, buuuttt would he remember to put the thingy on the door ???? I know I'm mean....hugs x0x0x0
