I have heard of some sort of cross stitch program - that is featured on Ann the Grann - but don't know a thing about it - check it out.

I have the Husqvarna Viking Cross Stitch program, which is fun and easy to create designs, but you need their embroidery program, as this is an optional program that runs with it. Right now I'm working on cross-stitching out a fishing photo of my son--really nice. It doesn't automatically convert embroidery designs--still takes some hands on.

I don't know of a program that would change an already digitized design to cross stitch. Some programs allow you to digitize cross stitch on your own, with your own or purchased artwork. They're usually pretty expensive, because they're digitizing programs. It wouldn't be like converting JEF to PES, it's a lot more difficult. Also, as Toet reminds us, some designers prohibit any changes being made to their designs, other than color substitution. It might just be easier to find the cross stitch designs you're looking for in the first place. Good luck with this, hugs, Marji

I have Husqvarna 3D Pro, which has a digitizing and a cross stitch section. You can use the same clipart or picture for both, you can't however change a cross stitch design into a 'normal' design or vice versa. I own Embird too, and am quite happy with that as it is very consumer friendly and has great features. Embird has Studio to digitize and a cross stitch add-on as well. But I think the same applies here: you can't convert from one to the other.

I have an old program called PCstitch that converts clipart and photos to cross stitch for hand work. I wonder if a screen shot of the results could be digitized. I haven't loaded it in years, but now that you've got me thinking, I might just have to check it out.
