This is my 5 year old daughter's back pack that I made for her to start kindergarten today. It is completely done in lime green and pink. Turned out really cute, and she adores it!!!

I used a pattern, but in the middle of sewing it... had to tweek it. It called for the bag to lay differently. The flap was half over the top and back, and it had some velcro closer... I put a drawstring on the top, and a magnetic closer for the flap... She was so proud to learn how to tie the drawstring "ribbon" today, which btw is frog ribbon... lol!
