I have actually done it both ways, and I find it easier to stitch it together before dissolving the WSS. Good luck with your project. I hope we see it soon in the Projects section.

Hi Raelene, personally I would stitch it together first as the stitches would all be uniform. Once wet and it's been stretched a bit it won't go together as easily.

Depends on the project - if you can stitch it before dissolving the wss I do, it is much easier to line up. I only dissolve first if I have to.
Also with my machine if I leave a little wss past the edges it is less likely to jam up at the beginning of the stitching (yes my machine is just a bit fussy).

Hi Raelene, i agree, I usually stitch before washing out, but it really depends on the type of project.

Some items are difficult to mold into shape once they are stitched.

For instance, I have done several, box type, purse tissue holders and couldn't find anything to put inside it, to mold it, when I stitched it before washing. Whereas, when I washed it first, I just laid each piece flat between towels, pulled them into shape and placed heavy books on top.

If the project comes with instructions, I would always follow them as the digitiser would have probably tried it both ways before suggesting which way to do it.

raelene, by now - more than likely - your project is posted and no need for another's view. But for the record - I have done it both ways - find it best to make the judgement of that by the project. Hehehe!! See, it didn't matter anyway - what my answer was - did it? I think it is personal preference. I like to rinse the WSS off and lay each section flat for best results - if that can be done with the stitching first - then do it, if now - you have to worry about getting it into the shape that you want it in while wet. I think it depends on the project. If the part to be stitched is long and uniform, I prefer stitch before dissolving them, in case of my doilies, that have stitches in some locations, I found it easier stitch after dissolve the WSS.

as u can see raelene it depends on the project. I usually stitch prior to soaking because it is softer then & easier to sew but sometimes u just have to wait 'till after u soak and dry. *

I just saw it and it was beautiful. A bit late but I like sewing before rinsing out the wss. It seems to hold the shape better while sewing.
