I think it some kind of registration key. Did you get a registration key or number with your software?

Sounds as your operating system has not the software to run the "object" you are trying to use (this is called a driver), so it comes up with the message to look for a software that is suited. When you purchased it (soft- of hardware), it should be accompanied by a cd where you should find the missing things.
But if you got it from other sources and you do not have this installing cd the websites of computer magazines can help out often.
There are large download areas with mainly free little helpers.
