I currently use PED-BASIC to transfer my designs to my computer. What other transfer problems are available? TIA ;D

What machine do you have, Monica? I'm pretty sure you have to use the program that's compatible with your machine to transfer designs. I have to use my Janome Digitizer Pro to put designs on my camera card to go to my Janome 300E. I'm not sure if all manufacturers do this, but if we knew which machine you were trying to do this with, it will help get you a good answer. Hugs, Marji

I'm sure you aren't looking for transfer problems. If you have PED-basic that seems to me the best thing to use. I use the same for my Brother 190D, which accepts original Brother cards and thus I need a reader/writer.
I have read that the Ultimate box does the same and for several brands of machine. Here's a copy of what it says on the Embird site. Quote. The Ultimate Box is a read/write device that transfers embroidery designs from the hard drive of your computer to a re-writable blank embroidery card that fits your Brother, Babylock, Bernina Deco, Simplicity, White and Viking/Husqvarna embroidery machines. The 2-slot Ultimate Box also supports the cards for Pfaff and Bernina Artista embroidery machines. The Ultimate Box writes up to 230.000 stitches to the Amazing/Magic and Brother 512 Kilobyte (4 Megabit) blank cards. The Ultimate Box writes over 450.000 stitches to the Ultimate Card. It reads and saves designs back to the hard drive of your computer from the above cards and most pre-programmed design cards (except licensed design cards). The box connects with a cable to the USB port of your computer. More information about Ultimate Box available at http://www.vikant.net Note: Ultimate Box is developed by Vikant Corporation. Vikant Corporation is not affiliated with any manufacturers mentioned here. All brand names and product names are trademarks and service marks of the respective manufacturers. End of quote. Embird supports that reader/writer and the cards are cheaper than Brother cards. So if you are thinking of Embird software this might be worth trying.

Monica, are you having some kind of problem with the PED Basic that you have? You said you're behind in your work now, was it working for you before and something happened to it? Maybe we could help solve the problem you have, rather than find different software. As Martine said, don't look for more problems than you already have! Hugs, Marji

Thanks so much for your concern Marji! Yes, I am having trouble. It was working and now it works now and then. Someone else was having this problem and contacted Brother so I am waiting to receive an e-mail from them shortly I hope ;D It's like it was get stuck so I am thinking it's a software issue. I really don't have another one in my budget at this time...LOL ;D *2U

I have Ped basic and a Brother 180D. This machine only does 4x4 designs. Sometimes I forget and put 5x7 designs on card and the machine won't take it. Is this the problem? I use the same system for my Babylock Esante. works ok there.

This happened to me
the machine will only accept 4x4 designs. if any other is on the card it will not read it. Also make sure the machine is set for 4x4 only. hope this helps

Thanks for your inputs. My problem is that it is not loading anything at times. I do believe it is a software error. It will also say something about the pelix.com ;D *2U

I have a Simplicity Smart Box and love I have a Baby Loc Esante 2. and Have no problems The largest I can do is 5x7. I got the smart box off the internet. I tried the Ped Basic at a friends house and did not care for it. But her computer is Vista so that could have been part of the problem. Good Luck in what ever you do. Maybe your brothers machine does only 4x4.

I have a babylock machine and I use Ped-basic. I'm not crazy about it but it costs too much to get something else. I can do 5x7 designs. You have to choose the hoop size at the top of the program, right under "help" there is a drop down box. If you are set to only a 4x4 hoop it will not let you transfer a 5x7 design. Check to make sure that the bigger hoop is selected. I hope this helps.
