Is there any rule for how much clearance your embroidery machine should have? TIA ;D

Oh absolutely. You need to be able to trace your largest hoop without the embroidery arm bumping into anything. As far as I know that's pretty much it. One of our Cuties has had her machine in the shop a few times cause she forgot this rule and bumped her arm out of alignment.

Thanks, WOW I sure don't want that to happen to me. I have lately had to move mines closer to the edge which we know that's not good either. I will be moving my machine to the larger desk area ;D *2U
I have managed to do this on more than one occasion so now I place something between my machine cabinet and the wall so the cabinet can't be accidentally moved against the wall.

I have all 4 of my machines sitting on that waffle weave shelf liner. It keeps them from vibrating off the table. It can get pretty shaky when they're all running at once. Just another tip.

Trace your largest hoop and you'll know what distance is safe for your machine. I usually use a 24x15 hoop, which sat very comfortably on the table. Then I switched to the 36x15 and that bumped into the wall. It was out of alignment, but caused no other problem that could not be solved by switching the machine off and on again - it did its usual calibrating thing - but the design was ruined.
