I think the answer is a definite no. It would be impossible to maintain the stability of the design, which it gets from crossing lines. If it does not fit your hoop (you could try placing it diagonally) you can't stitch it out properly. I wouldn't even try to split it and stitch it on organza or tule (netting).

What size is the design that you need to spilt it?
