We used three types of baby food on paper plates and everyone had to look, smell but not taste to guess what it was. We also had a small jar of M&M's and everyone guessed how many were in the jar. We have taken the invitation to the shower and put it in a frame and everyone who attended the shower signed it and added best wishes. (That one was kinda done without the mum knowing as they came in the door) It was a big hit. I know you said mum was sensitive to belly size but everyone at the shower measured thier waist and the one closest to mums size won. Actually that should make the mother feel good because WE WEREN'T PREGNANT! hehehe Just a few you might think about. If they have named the baby you could take the first name and see how many words you can make out of the babies name. I'm gonna stop now. But if these help I'm glad!

Here's a site for you. I think I've played just about all the games shown, except No. 4, which looks like fun! The last shower I went to, the hostess asked everyone to bring a pack of diapers, and then their names were put in drawing for a nice prize--I think it was a gift card, but Mom really got a bunch of diapers. Gee Reggie, I haven't been to a baby shower for years - but I think I saw something - that they had little items hung on ribbon around their necks - that they exchanged for something said or done during the party - the one with the most around their neck - wins a special prize at the end. That is as much as I can remember. Hehehe! *4U

I'm not really in to games at a shower, and I don't think most people I know are either. One nice thing you can do is have everyone address the envelope to themselves for the thank-you cards. You're so busy at the end trying to get everything ready. It's nice to have a little help getting out the thank you's.

At the last baby shower, we were each given a peg,(that you use for your washing) had to put it on your top, and when ever you saw someone cross there arms or legs, you could get up and take there peg, at the end, the one with the most got a prize.

At a friends shower, we played one that had lumps of melted candy bars on posterboard with numbers beside each. (These were to symbolize the diaper messes a baby makes.) Another posterboard had the wrappers of the candybars pasted on. The guests were given paper and pens to write the name of the candy bar with the number of the fake poo. The winner got a prize, of course.

I don't care for silly games at showers or heaven forbid at a tupper wear party. I was impressed with the Disposable diaper tiered cake like centerpiece. I think the diapers are tucked and rolled and a ribbon is tied around the outside circumference and stacked in graduated rounds like a tiered wedding cake. Hope someone will give you a link for instructions. One idea would be to use blue ribbon on everything since she knows it's a boy. Good luck sweetie. Also, does anyone know the recipe for that great punch made using cranberry juice, pineapple juice, ginger ale and pour over frozen raspberry sherbet. It is wonderful and not to sweet like some.

GREAT TIMING, REGGIE...I just did my daughters baby shower last night.....

to get started, have everyone write down a great piece of advice for the MOM-TO-BE...go around the room and introduce yourselves...read the advice out loud you give .....


because some guests have to leave early, the next thing is the first game and gift opening...

game 1...have everyone draw a bingo block (5 across and 5 down) squares 25 total...each guest fills in all blocks with baby items (bib, bottle, shirt, pants, etc.)...as the Mom opens the gifts one at a time, the guests will cross off the item if it is on their block...the first guest to get a baby bingo will win a prize....if you want to do black out, you can do it that way......this will allow you to play a game and open the gifts at the beginning so everyone can see them.....

game 2.....
pick 5 to 7 baby food jars that look exactly the same...( I used papaya---mango---chicken noodle dinner---sweet corn casserole---vegetable & chicken---peaches, oatmeal & bannanas---butternut squash)....these are all orande...put a number on top and list the item on a piece of paper for yourself....remove the label..... pass these around to the guests and have them guess what they are ....tell them they are all different..they cannot open the jars....the one who gets the most correct wins the prize.....

game 3....

diaper cake...used as a centerpiece, also a game....
I put one item that started with the alphabet.....A=applesauce, B=brush C=comb, D=diapers, E= ear thermometer, ETC... give the guests 1 to 2 minutes to view the cake...remove it from site...have the guests list the alpha down the page...then have them tell you what was on the cake per alpha....harder than what you think because it has to be listed right to get it all right....if you choose to do this one, I can help you with all the items.......this is also a gift the mother can use all items from you.....

I have alot more ideas if you need more......

I don't really like those games and don't usually participate. One thing you could do is stitch out a bunch of Ricky's FSL babies for all the guests as party favors.

At Deana's shower I took a pretty wooden box ans had some pretty note cards that my niece made. Each of the guest wrote down some thing they would wish for for Adelaide. Then they went in the box and Deana read them latter when she felt like she could enjoy then alone.We gave every one a diaper pin when they came in and if someone crossed thier legs and you caught them you could take thier pin. most pins at the end wins a prize. At my shower 21 years ago the one thing i do remember is everyone wrote down a helpful hint and they put them in a flip recipe card holder for me.
