new to embroidery. when using the loop, how do you do the corner of something (like a napkin)?

Try to avoid using glue. It stuffs up your machine and needles. I just tack 1 piece of scrap fabric to 2 side of what ever I want to embroider and hoop and stitch as normal.When fished the tacking stitches pull out very easy.

Theresa, WELCOME to the CUTE family - that depends on if you are just doing embroidery work on the napkin or attaching a lace design to your napkin. You do as mpo14011 said if you at going to stithc embriodery on your napkin - but if you are going to do - as I did on these napkins in this photo below - you stitch the FSL Napkin square - then you attache it to the corner - apply Fray Check on the napkin - allow it to dry and then you cut away the napkin. I usually hoop the stabiliser and place the napkin on it. And I sometimes turn the design 45 degrees (in my software, my machine only allows 90 degree turns), I find that easier to correctly place whatever I'm embroidering.

I have never done it theresa, but recently someone told me to hoop stabiliser and like on a whole lace corner should be first to sew lines to show corner. Embroider lines on stabiliser. and than put napkin in these lines what is your corner. Next lines shoud be to fix and than cut material away and carry on embroidering lace.

Designs in Machine Embroidery offers easy placement designs. The outline of for instance a baby jacket is stitched on stabiliser, then the jacket is placed on the line and the next colours stitch the design. Perfect placement on left and right panels. But that's only an option for larger hoops, a 4x4 is too small. But IF you have a large hoop and IF you have the software you can design an outline and combine it with your chosen design. Stitching perfectly equal napkins or whatever would be so easy that way.

you've got many answers already. I also use sticky tear away stabilizer in the hoop and just fix the napkin on the adhesive stabilizer, that way I don't have to hoop it.
