to see others. I'm thinking I'll make my daughter a different stocking each year. Does anyone have a favorite embroidery design to use or a great site for designs that will fit a stocking?

I do celebrate Christmas, but never have (made) Christmas stockings. We usually do presents on the 5th of December, St. Nicholas eve - for the children in a shoe, not a stocking - although more and more presents are given at Christmas as well.

I have my Santaclaus stocking posted in projects. It was a test.

I posted my first embroidered Christmas stocking this year for my newest granddaughter. All the others (14) I did in the counted cross stitch. But hands and eyes can't do that tiny hand work any longer. For my first I think it turned out okay. They did like it and were really surprised that I did it all on my machine. :) I saw many others posted in projects. Would be well worth looking through projects.

Thank you for posting the project link. I missed it when you first posted it! Erin's style of stocking is just what I had in mind. I love the fireplace scene. Fantasitc work!

44 yrs. ago a friend gave our 6 month old an adorable Santa stocking made from felt. When our little girl came along, I copied it and made one for her. 12 yrs. later I made one for the "added blessing" we had. THEN as our 3 kids have gotten married, I made each spouse a stocking...all are Santa with something they like (toy, etc) on the stocking. THEN 2 grand daughters later, I'm still making that same stocking!! Boy, talk about traditions!! Still hang them every year even if hubby & I are the only ones here! Who ever should be here Christmas Eve/morning finds their stocking with stuff in it. I made them, but not embroidered!

Mine are all crossstitched as well, BUT I just saw a perfect one at Embroider This. It is the plush fur red with a white top, BUT it has a hidden zipper that goes from the top down to the toe so you can open it up and embroider on the foot and also put a name or other design on the top. There are also 2 free designs that were used in the illustration. I'm wishing I needed another one! My darling Grandson who was due on the 13th and hasn't bothered to show yet got a new one 2 weeks ago, so I can't even get one for him, but I'm still thinking.....;)
