I drove out of my way to buy bobbins at my Bernina dealership in SA (told her exactly which machine) and apart from a terrible rattling sound, have now discovered that it also affects the stitch quality. Could just as well bought it from a general dealer store! I have now noticed that the original ones that came with machine has a small 3 or 5 on them - the junk has nothing, definitely a "dirty" transparent colour and lighter in weight!
Read on... I did'nt know that you get different types of Mettler bobbin thread. She sold me a couple of 100% COTTON ones, and back in Botswana, I noticed that the Mettler ones I have, is 100% POLYESTER! I have not used the 100% COTTON yet, but common sense tells me, it will SHRINK, and I only use POLYESTER for top thread. Do you agree that it will shrink in the wash?
I had run out of this and tried several other brands but they all played up so much in the auto bobbin winder that I even bought another bobbin housing thinking it was faulty.
So for 12 months, I had been trying to buy some and had exhausted all my avenues here in Australia except for one very dear lady, namely Yoriko, who organised for her Son to buy it in Japan and have it shipped here for me.
I owe her my sincere thanks as my machine definitely stitches better and doesn't play up when it has the thread that was recommended for it to use in the bobbin.
Thank you Yoriko, dear friend. It is so worth all our efforts as the stitchouts are now perfect.
And thank heavens for the internet, what did we ever do without it?
Hugs n roses, Meganne
