I have bought pes files and when I hold them in my E drive to transfer them to the machine, the machine can't see them. I have a brother Innov-is 900D. Can anyone give me any advice please?

I would like an answer to this too. I have found that some files can be read and for some reason others can't and it always seems to be the one I REALLY want to do that won't transfer to the embroidery machine. I have the same machine as brendaeden.

I don't have the that machine, I have a different Brother. There are at least 4 versions of pes (4.0. 5.6, 6.0 and one other 4.?) My machine can read up to 5.6. Some of the new designs are done in 6.0 and I have to convert them to a lower version. You can't tell what version it is by looking at the icon.
If I were you I would try to convert them using
Wilcom Trusizer or Pulse Ambassador and see if that works.
At the bottom of Cindys page there are links to free copies of both of these programs. (Cindes only does pcs format so I have to convert all of those designs.)
Good Luck.

Thank-you for the information, I too have had problems with pes files and thought it was just me as I am a computer git.
My machine is brand new however I am in Australia so I guess the machine and the software could be any age! I shall give this a go and see how I get on. Thanks heaps, Brenda.
Oh the joys! I can't download the Wilcom program, there is an error in their survey before download. I have downloaded pulse but it tells me I can't resize them. I shall battle to download Wilcom and see how I go.

Just so I understand which is your "E" drive? Is it the machine?

The "E" drive is the removable disk on my computer where the sewing machine reads to transfer the file. My computer knowledge is very average so I hope this clarifies it!

The other day when I was trying to transfer to my Innov-is 1500D I discovered that I couldn't put them in a file folder in the E drive. The files just had to be transferred to the E drive as individual files. Embarassing to say but I am learning. The main thing I'm learning is keep looking at the book until I have learned!

Oh, maybe I should double-check what I'm trying to transfer!!!

Brenda - If you can see the design in your software program on your computer, you must be able to send it to your embroidery machine, - otherwise it is written in a higher software version than what you're able to see. Another problem - Did you check the size of the designs?? If they are too big, you're machine will also not take it. Hope this will help you.

Maybe software is the problem. I have a trial version of PE-Design 8. The pattern was purchased from cute so I should be able to find out what version they were designed in. The design is under 4x4".

the design is too big for you hoop

Thanks for your advice, I checked the size of the pattern and it is less than 4" by 4". My hoop is 7"x5" so I think it should be able to accept it???
I agree with Ken174. I spoke to a Brother dealer today and was advised the design needs to be less that 4 X 4. Dealer stated if the design is to big you that machine will not accept the design. The embroidery area is not quite 4 X 4. As to the PES the machine is new enough it will read backward on design formats...

I know this problem, sometimes I safe the file and then convert it to pther PES version. hope it works for you!

It is not only the 4x4 size you have to consider, there is a limit on the number of stitches that can be in a design. I think you mentionioned the 5x7 hoop. For the Innovis 900 5x7 you need to split the design for multi positioning. You then stitch out, say, the top half, then reposition the hoop to stitch out the bottom half. Instructions to do this are in PEDesign 8 under Help - Instruction Manual - p.182 "Creating design for Multi Position Hoop". Part of a Tutorial (Advanced), however, it is easy to do, and they stitch out extremely well.

I too have a Brother, and often I download a PES file and when I try to see it on my PE-Design it says file not found, I upload it to Wilcom and re-save it as a PES file and it comes back. Not sure why. Hope you have success. Happy embroidering.

I had a similiar problem with my brother and a design from the cute site. Even though my machine comes with a 5x7 loop it will only take designs 100mm by 100mm. The design I downloaded was 101mm by 100mm so it was not downloading and the error message was so fast I never got to see it.
