PES retains digitized colors but will only be 100% correct if the digitizer uses the PES/Brother color chart. PES converts non PES/Brother colors to something as close as it can but they are not always correct. Example: purple is often converted as gray. The commercial formats such as DST do not retain the colors.

That is true for many of the designs. That is why I like to do a print out of the color charts.

I have a Baby Lock machine and I do a print out of the colors too so I can see kinda what the colors should be. Which that is still not an exact match either because your printers do not always print the true shades.
