Avira

AVG is very fussy and gives false positives, Avast will not let you delete it when you want to change protection to another.

A friend who works in IT suggested we need 3 different ones as they find different things. I have 2 freebies -Ad Aware and Spybot and one paid -CA. I like them all.

I use Norton - as recommended by my son, a professional computer programmer. It smoothly scans all my downloads.

For easy-to-use all-round protection for anti-virus, internet security & backups, Norton 360 is good; if you are in to customizing settings & are confident about 'exceptions" etc, then Trend Micro & Kaspersky are among the best, IMO.

I use AVG, pretty good for a free anti-virus protection; even a tech said it was as good as any out there. I used to have Norton, but he's rather naughty. Once he's in your computer he's hard to get rid of. It's best to hv only one protection program only, they might conflict a bit if you hv two. Each to their own & whatever makes you happy & are satisfied with.

Norton, Trend etc are anti virus, the adaware, spybot are for other creepy crawlies like worms and trojans. Virus will corrupt the computer others will infiltrate, disrupt and can access and use information from your computer. you need one of each, an antivirus and anti spyware.

I have long used anti-virus free (AVG, avast, etc.), but they are not as efficient as one might think... I've realized when I installed an bought anti-virus !!!
Now I use KASPERSKY and i'm very satisfied with it !!!

I use BitDefender. It is not free, but I haven't had a virus for 3 years. I find it well worth the money. There was a free trial (I think for 30 days) before I bought it.

Norton's 360 is my dear hubby's choice of protection, which includes internet screening and downloads along with full system support. We purchase the multi-computer version as we have 4 around here. Since his career is in software services he is up on that sort of thing. Nortons usually offers rebates which reduce its cost to under $5.00 when all is said and done. Check out the following website which tracks deals available on many products for rebate offers and sales. A cheap price to pay for the peace of mind!
Good luck and may your 2010 computing be free from virus' attacks! Blessings!

I like the Avira. Had bad experience with Mcafee & Norton is just so expensive. *

I also use KASPERSKY and are very happy with it. Switched from Norton three years ago (because it let through viruses) and will stay with them.
