Old jeans, scrap heart applications (free designs I think, but can't remember)and many different ways of sewing the squares together - I tried with bits of paper to see how they could turn out. Turned sideways the herats look like fish, which lead me to the idea that they were beach bags - for the swimsuit and towels and so on. The old movie about the Big Blue was the next part of the name... and my friends have been very happy to get the bags as presents. They were rather difficult - or time consuming - to make but also very very funny.
