I am still at the holiday home in SA, supervising painters, plumbers, electricians, etc. But today is Sunday and I am home alone! And I mean ALONE. From any angle or view from the house I do not see 1 human being or even 1 vehicle. The only sound is that of the wind...and the radio inside. It is a beautiful view though, overlooking thatch roofs and all white painted houses, mountains on the horizon and a bit of the ocean (about 500m away)

I opened all doors and windows, so that the wood sealer can dry, but had to close ALL at 11:00 this morning - the wind is blowing like it can only blow on THIS SA coastline. Still trying to figure out the weather forecast when it comes to the wind...moderate, fresh, strong, ...gale force. Do you think fresh is stronger than strong or vice verse?..Is moderate stronger than fresh? Nobody understands that! If you do, please educate me.

Insisted that DH takes the smart card back to Botswana, so although I have a TV here, can not watch any channels. My machine is in Botswana. I have to buy pre-paid data bundles in order to connect to internet and therefore don't connect to internet that often.

I have been picking up shocking pink bougainvilla flower petals from the lawn and patio, about 3x a day, as if they were the most precious findings I have ever come across. Just imagine how many designs I could have bought if I got 1$ for each!! The wind blows them into the lounge and even the kitchen if you ignore them. Maybe I must throw them into the bath tonight, add some candle light and finish the left-over wine DH did not!

Yesterday, I cleaned the metal strips on which the sliding doors run, with steelwool, for what felt like hours! I wish you can see how they shine! Wanted to clean the wood sealer spots on window glass with paraffin and a blade, but the wind stopped me.

I have also been picking up small pieces of cement and brick chips (result of cutting a cable into an outside wall) Wish you could see my finger nails! And I wonder what those beauties on the beach would say if they saw that !

Talking about the beach, right now, you will be sandblasted if you are brave enough to dare going near.

It is now 3:45pm. On a day like this, the wind goes to sleep just after sunset, which is 7:30pm. Just before that, birds fly all over, hurrying back to their nests. Then it really feels as if you are alone on this planet. Not a leaf moves, absolutely wind still...then you can sit on the patio and hear the sound of the waves and can watch the most spectacular sunsets...pink skies...and a few bats are the only visitors. Wish you could join me then... Keep well. Suzette

Sure does sound lonely. But just picture how beautiful it will be when it's finished. I on the other hand would love to have a few days completely alone. As long as I have the radio and some good reading material I'd be quite content for a while.

Where is this holiday home of yours? Maybe if it is close to Cape Town all our cuties can hook-up. Enjoy the peace and quite, but understand it can get lonely

Elize, It is St Francis Bay, on the eastern Cape coast. About 700km from Cape Town.

Oh, and the most boring day of my life? I honestly can not remember being bored. I'm sure perhaps sometime I was, but for the life of me I don't know when that might have been.;)

You are right! - the past week has just slowed me down - so use to running around. If this stay was permanent residence, and it will be in less than 2 years, it will be a different story!

Oh what I would give to be as bored as you! Sounds like a perfect day to me--beautiful sunsets and listening to the ocean. I'll take a couple weeks of that. Me bored? No--can't remember the last time. It probably would be when we get snow and the power goes off--I have a bad habit of leaving the TV on just for the noise.

Daisy, yes fantastic scenery! Boring part: the bougainvilla leaves and maintenance tasks!

Boring? It sounds like the beginning of a fascinating novel. You could make a short story out of it and sell it to a magazine, might be the beginning of another time-consuming hobby. But I agree an embroidery machine and some material would be just the thing you need. Too bad it's too far to come over and bring those supplies with me, I'd love to see the scenery you so vividly described.
Have a good night. Martine

Sure, Martine! Will just have to fabricate some characters...some fishermen from the chokka boats in the harbour, the artisans, policeman, Oh and the helicopter pilot(s)... can you add the romance?

Your decription is beautiful. I could almost hear the waves. As far as being bored I can't recall a day, but I do have to admit that I am often bored in doctors offices because I forgot to bring a book along.

Thank you. Very true - and yes I do count my blessings, Lilian. It is Monday morning, 5:30 now, and my day starts with taking the vehicle for a service in the nearby small town.

Oh my Suzette, you brought me into that lovely world for a short time - thank you - you do write well - aside from not having people around - it sounds like heaven - you could put people into it along with a story line and create something with the way you write - a new career for you - who knows. As for my most boring day - it would be a day - that I wouldn't be able to use electricity - almost everything I do - uses that one way or the other - unless - I could just read a book and drift off into the storyline, that isn't boring either. Hehehe! I do hope that you find something, so you don't feel bored. Thank you for sharing this land I will never see.

Thank you Shirlene. When I am back in Botswana, I will look for some photos of this area on the other computer and post it here.
