I purchased my last iron at Walmart. It is a Black and Decker. What I look for when I buy an iron is lots of steam holes on the bottom of the iron. I also like a little heavier iron, not the lite weight ones. Another feature I like is the auto shut-off. I once purchased an expensive iron, can not remember the name, however, "Nancy's Notions" pushs them. I hated it!! Gave it away and bought the cheap B&D. I think alot of it is just personal preference. Maybe try going to a store, look them over and see if they feel good for your hands. I hope this at least gives you some ideas. H&*

I love my Rowenta and there is a lower cost model. I'm thinking I've seen it at Sears. I have the professional model and I use it numerous hours a day. I have used the below model when my son and his wife got two as wedding presents, I bought 1 from them. I like it just fine, but the professional is heavier.;)

I dislike irons that auto shut off when I am sewing because you are allways waiting for them to warm up. Also a high quality steel plate so it will not scratch and nick easily. I had an iron once with a no stick coating but it peeled off and got very yucky fast.
