Hello cuties ! Can you explain to me if there is a difference between trapunto and embossed ? On the pictures it seems to me to be the same.All two are embroidered on terry towel.

trapunto designs use a batting behind the design where as embossed do not..they (embossed) generally for lofty fabrics like towels and fleece where it holds the fabric down under the stitches...hence the name embossed..

This will be a good resource. Trapunto is not done on terry.

When I learned trapunto in school it was with muslin on the back of fabric. 2 lines were stitched in the shape of the design and then we made a little hole in the backing where we threaded thick cord to make the shape stand out.
