Maybe the folders are zipped and you have to unzip to get to the design.

Right click on the folder. This should open the extraction wizard. Click on extract all. Click Next, Next, Finish and it will unzip the file. Once it is unzipped you can open that file in the PED Basic.

Thanks for the suggestions. It wasn't a zip file, but I was able to drag it into an existing folder and then open it that way. It was really strange because I tried to do that 3 times and it wouldn't work, then finally populated. Go figure!

I had a little trouble with PED Basic when I first got it - sometimes pes files arent recognised by PED Basic. There is an update at Brother USA that resolves this.
Now I know that this seems like an old update, but it worked for me - I now see all pes files in PED Basic. It might help you too :) Dana xXx

Thank you! So, I downloaded it, I don't have to add it to the ped somehow right? It'll just go ahead and support it on it's own?
Yes, provided you installed it into the PED directory. Just run the exe and follow the prompts.
I did just quickly revisit the Brother site, and although the installation instructions tell you to unplug the reader and uninstall PED, I did not, and mine works fine (lol if all else fails read the instructions is my motto).

A problem I have found is, that I have Palette 7 the company now has updated to Palette 8. If a design is digitized in 8 I can not read it. PED and Palette are very much alike. H&*
