Cuties, I quickly went to "Bridge for dummies" on internet, but this is going to take too long to read and understand! What would be appropriate to emb on the table cloth? Does N, E, S, W, (for North, East, South, West) have to be there? And images of Jack, Queen, King, Ace? I don't have the foggiest idea what the objective is! Can only play "rummy" and "snap" LOL!!

I was asked last Friday to embroider a cloth, with a dragon and the words Mahjong and a few others. In the corners they wanted spade, clubs, heart and diamond (are those the correct terms for "klaver, ruiten, harten, schoppen")- which I digitised 6 cm high - so it could also be used for card games. The N,E,S,W refer to a person's position at the table, which is used to determine who are partners and who plays next. In Bridge game instructions the players are so designated for clarity. The game is played with regular cards and involves bidding and taking 'tricks'....sort of like pinochle. The word Trump is used. I don't know any other words that could be used on your cloth, as I don't play it myself, but the suits could be in he corners & the NESW on the sides. Please show us when it's done.

I think a spade , a heart, a club and a diamond emblems would be cute. Only put designs in the corners that would show on table. keep the center clear. This area is used to play the cards. The dummy always lays their hand down, dividing into 4 rows, one for each suit. any design in the center would detract attention from the cards. I am lucky enough to have inherited some heirloom bridge cloths from my great aunt. They measure 36" X 36" And some have ties to tie around each leg. Today's card tables are larger so you would make larger. If I remember correctly, sometimes two cloths were used. The first one was for lunch and that one removed to play bridge on the second one. Thank you! I also figured that it would be distracting to put any design in the middle, although there were people that disagreed!
