I don't see pictures of the design and as far as I knoiw the problem is Window 7. That uses 64 bit and the Embird Iconizer needs a 32 bits version. I went through different Embird tutorials on different sites and found this.
The 64-bit edition of Windows Vista:
The 64-bit edition of Vista and also Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
use 64-bit version of Windows Explorer, which cannot load libraries of
current 32-bit Iconizer plug-in.
To work around the Windows Explorer issue, you must use the 32-bit
version of Windows Explorer:
Click Start, click Run, type the following in the Open box, and then
click OK:
C:\Windows\syswow64\explorer.exe /separate
If you are using Embird 2008 with 64-bit edition of Vista, it will
automatically create the new shortcut "Windows Explorer 32-bit" on your
Desktop. Use this shortcut for launching the 32-bit version of Windows
Explorer which works with Embird Iconizer.
But when I click on my START button of my computer I cannot find a RUN button to press on and that is where I get stuck (spelling) Does any one know a sulution??? I think I must be doing something wrong. Thank you all in advance.
Did I get this right: Embird has no patch to allow it to run under Windows 7?
It might cause problems when you switch the whole system settings just to run Embird- better switch the settings just for Embird (right click programm icon and use the "record card" to set compatibility to f.e. Win95 or XP- the one you know it worked with).
Sometimes it is just a matter of installation- Embird is composed of some different Plug-ins and maybe they came in the wrong order.
Sometimes it helps just to install again.
I'm upgrading my computer in the next few weeks, and having had 64-bit Vista for 2 years, because of this problem with Embird being even less compatible with the 64 bit version of Win 7, I'm quite happily going back to 32-bit for my upgrade to Win 7.
so you can run the command that you needed to.
To add the run command to windows 7 start menu go to the task bar. Normally the last 1/2 inch at the bottom of your screen. The task bar is where the start menu is shown or any program running shows a little icon.Put your pointer on the task bar and right click .
A small menu will open go to the option properties should be last one .
Click on properties another window opens click on second tab near the top called start menu.
When the next page opens click in customize scroll down the list till you see the words Run command. Make sure the box to the left has a check mark in it click on apply then ok.
Once the menu closes if you click on start and now look to the right side you should see the word run.
This is the run command click on run and enter the info you were talking about in the text box. Hope this helps.Jberd
without Iconizer to view my designs. It works well on my computer with Windows XP, do not have it on the other computer with Vista.
Ruth of www.cantoodesigns.com has free tutorials on Embird and is so willing to help everyone learn. She explains things so down to earth; please contact her and
see if she can help. Getting Iconizer to work is a simple procedure, but I cannot offhand give you the steps. Ruth can be of great assistance to all of you
having problems with any Embird issue.
