Have you thought about using "Painters tape" on each side of the ribbon to hold it to reg. stabilizer? It is sticky enough to hold the ribbon, however, it would come off easy. H&*

Have you ever tried the Hydro stick stabilizers? They are great for smaller items and when you're done just add a little h20 and the stabilizer just peels away or dissolves. I use hydro sticks 80% of the time. They are great for terry cloth also as they do not pull the terry cloth when removing.

I find that sticky tear away is the hardest to get off. I use it if the back will be hidden so I don't have to worry about it. Sometimes I use the spray adhesive with a tear away, it comes off a little easier.

I use a magna hoop for ribbons, but before I got it, I just used an iron on tear-away. It's a bit fiddly to peel off, but no where near sticky. I also would just spray the temp adhesive and stick the ribbon on to regular tear away and used some pins to make sure nothing moved...just be careful too look where you are going to stitch so that you don't hit one of the pins.;)

You could also try soaking them in a little warm water and when the stablizer is comepletly soaked, its a bit less sticky. This is what I do when I do towels that I cannot hoop

Have you tried Aqua Mesh Plus by OESD? It's a wonderful wash away stick back stabilizer. Works like a charm!
