kinda hip (not like a traditional laptop case) She wants it open at the top and have the top fold over a couple of inches on the outside (I was thinking at an angle with pleats in a different color/lining color), very plain shoulder handle, pocket on the outside to hold cell phone, pens, etc and a couple things inside that I am not worried about creating. Oh, she wants the laptop to go into the bag the LONG way. So it will be taller than it is wide. I was hoping that in your travels some of y'all might have seen a pattern for one that I could look at to get some ideas. I'm not buying a pattern, just looking for ideas on different looks. If any of you know of any sites that have women's bags that might have pics of what I am interested looking for, can I ask you to please post the link so I can take a peek to get some more ideas.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.

This would be a good pattern just close the top open the end and add a flap . pockets or what ever. would not be hard to do .Or take the mesursments of the lap top and cut your own pattern . I did this whith a childs purse and it turned out really well .all I had was the with and higth and a discription of what the lady wanted.she was so happy with it.

Sounds like a great project. I just did a quick little Google search and it looks like most/all of them go the wide way not the tall/long way. But you could just get your ideas from any of these and turn it sideways.
#3 long way
