Can anyone help me with a question re hoops for the Designer 1 SE Limited Edition Husqvarna sewing machine. I want to know can you use an 8 inch by 8inch hoop? I'd appreciate any help love Chris

I have a lot of Husqvarna hoops and I don't know whether or not the Designer 1 can use an 8" one.
Also can you use other brands of hoops other than Husqvarna?

Don't know about other brands of hoops, but I'm using Elna feet on my Diamond.
So I suppose you could use Generic brand as long as they say they are suitable for Designer 1.

I'd check with a dealer. When I got the Quilters hoop I had to have an upgrade for my machine which was a mechanical one.

If you go into your 4D communication software, connect by cable to your machine like you do for upgrades and tell it to load the 8 x 8 hoop to your machine.

Let me know if that works for you, please. I thought 150mm width was the widest you could use on the Designer 1 series.
That's what I'm afraid of Martine - I had a look at the 6x6 in it today and I thought it should be able to go another couple of inches, but then maybe not wide enough between the plate and the end of the arm area. Love Chris

i started off with the se now i have a diamond and just do as meganne has stated and you will find a whole list of dufferent size hoops have fune mary

I hope you have your answer, but just in case you did not - No, you can not use an 8x8 in the SE. I made a trip to the Sewing Center just specifically to ask, as I was also told that this would work. 150mm is the widest that can be used with that model. I seriously considered trading to the Diamond, but can not justify the price difference just now. I do have the hoop in my 4DPro software, but can not put the design to the machine. The newest hoop for the SE is the 120x120 which can be used if you have the most recent update. I have the 150x150, so do not know if that newer one would be beneficial. Good luck with you hoop responses, and hope we have helped some.

I found out on Saturday too at the Newcastle Craft Fair. I went to the Husqvarna stand and asked the rep who was on duty. She was a bit "hoity-toity" about the question - until I told her that I had the Designer 1 and then her attitude changed. So I realise too that I can't use an 8x8 - I have every other size, so I suppose it really doesn't matter.
