I second with what you just stated.. if they state that it is not tested.. I don't down load it..

I agree, I would not buy a design if a freebie was of poor quality. You expect them to be an example of their standard of work. I don't download designs that aren't tested and I seldom do if only the clipart is shown, I prefer to see a picture of the test stitch.
Having said that, in Design by Cuties I have posted simple shapes for patches - rectangles, circles and ovals - without testing them first as they were only variations on a tested applique shape. Anything else I test, tweak, test again until I'm satisfied. As my grandma used to say: if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well.

As I have said before, on my snowflakes, I do not test each name I put up, but I did the same thing for myself for Christmas and made 71+ of these snowflake names, and did not have any trouble with any. They all did real well for me, so I do not test them, However, the Heart monogram circle has been tested, and so has any other design I have put up. I do not usually D/L a design that says not tested yet. I know it takes time, but thats the name of the game!!! Judy

Thank you for posting, I sure didn't want to hurt anyones feelings either, I'm glad you all feel the same way. I also feel that if the job is worth doing, it has to be done right.

Mary Anne, I have also put some embossed designs on "designs for Cuties" which were requested and I did not test stitch them. And there were requests for names that I sent via e-mail and told the "Cuties" that I'v not managed to test stitch But I did state that they were not test stitched , so that who ever requested them could test stitch it first and let me know if there was a problem.(as I had so many request just before Christmas)

But I agree with you, if I downloaded a freebie and it was not test stitched first and it was of poor quality I would not buy designs from that site.

Unfortunately you can't even hope that getting designs from a well known digitizer/site that the designs will stitch out properly.
Buzztools has some freebie fonts that stitch out HORRIBLY!
I just did an AD design of a big eyed baby elephant and the outline stitch was off a bit.
On a Dakota design of gumdrops the outline was off.
I just posted in projects some fsl designs on clothes that I did. The designs were ace points FSL AND they had a ton of jump stitches in them I was very disappointed.
So I guess we just have to accept the fact that we have to always test the design we want to use with similar fabric or take our chances.
