out a design for the blanket. Please ask the 11-17 yr old girls what is "cool" or what they would like on a blanket. Or if you remember those days what you think would work. Words or sayings is fine, no names though. Thanks.

My tween loves retro flowers (think Scooby doo designs). Good luck with the craft fair, I hope you post pictures of the finished blanket.

One of my granddaughters is 14 but she is athletic and loves soccer. She also Irish dances. Her b'day was a couple of weeks ago and I bought one of those inexpensive polar fleece blankets, and embroidered and Irish dancer and a girl playing soccer. She loved it and said she needed a new one to keep in her "bags". My other granddaughters are much younger and is into the "teen scene" with the "Suite Life" etc... This probably didn't help, but not all girls are into girly things like we would like them to be. LOL...

Personally I don't care for sock monkeys either but if it sells the blanket that is all I do care about.

My daughter had one with soccer designs she kept in her soccer bag all thru high school for bench time and bus trips. She's in college now and still pulls it out for TV time.

Answer from a 12 yr old. Sock monkeys are cool. They have come back! Now, from the 40 yr old mom, she said they never went out!! (She's a monkey collector)

It's pretty obvious I never had any teenage girls, my sons were never into this kind of thing. LOL!!!
I suppose I should collect some for my GD's but they won't be teenagers for another 10 years. :-)))

they really are made from what used to be work socks..brown color with red heel. My daughter had 2 made by her great aunt, in fact still has them. I guess they are so ugly you have to love them? You can buy the socks from craft catalogs and the instructions usually come with them. I'm sitting here smiling thinking of grown women discussing sock monkeys! LOL

My almost 14 year old girl says "hearts", "puppies", "kittens". My 15 year old isn't here right now but her room has heart throbs on the wall like Taylor Lautner, Robert Patinson (both from Twilight), and Nick Jonas. She is also into panda bears.
If you are near a particular high school you could do their mascot.
Also mod flowers like from the hippie days. Sayings that are in right now include, "lame sauce", "cool", "awesome", "that's epic", "that's so ninja". I think some sayings actually vary with the town or school.

Michelle at myembroiderynook has a lot of sock monkey sets, the link is to one with a freebie. Her prices are rock bottom, and her designs sew out so nicely.
