I would prefer Personal, because I always go to Personal as well and it just makes it easier to view other embroidery issues in Public then.

I think in personal belongs the real personal things as,illness, needs, other birthdays (like Sissis 100years old grandma) trouble at work and so on.
I SEE CUTE AS A FAMILY SO THE BIRTHDAYS OF OUR CUTEFAMILY-PARTICIPANTS: CLEAR IN SIGHT PLEASE!

I think too many of us wouldn't see them if they were posted in Personals.
Besides, one definition of Community is:
A group of people having common interests; Sharing, participation and fellowship.
And I believe we all like to send best wishes to our fellow Cuties for their birthdays, it is part of the loving, caring Community we all want Cute to be.
Some Cuties don't have any family and if it weren't for Cute they would feel totally alone and unloved. (Remember Eric's comments?)

I would prefer to keep it in the Community Public forum. I agree with Meganne not a lot of people check out the Personal tab.
I personally have a smile on my face every time I read the birthday wishes.
I am sure everyone on here agrees with me when I say we are celebrating life and what a marvelous gift it is. It's the Community tab that I always go to first to check out what is happening around the world and I love to see whose birthday it is we are celebrating.

This is so difficult to answer... Birthday is so special, even knowing we are getting old :), it is just so nice to see that you are not celebrating it by yourself. Unfortunatelly, not so many go to Personal, and many would miss the Birthday's wishes. So, I think only Cuties Birthday should be on Public. Anniversaries, family member birthday go to personal. Whatever the majority wants is perfectly ok with me but I do like to see them public, because we are the only family some of the "Cutes" have & when I hit 100 I want the entire world to know it. LOL even if I don't.

Before answering this I read everyone's replies. I thought about it for several minutes, so I can choose my words carefully and not upset any cuties.

If anyone comes here and clicks on the freebies tab and the designs by cuties tab and the projects tab, then why can't they click on personals?
I have read many of the past posts to try and understand this site better. From what I can tell the owner Veronica has tried to make this site user friendly, by accomodating every need the cuties have.
I respect the love everyone has for eachother here, that being said a birthday is a life personal event, and I think it belongs in the personal section.

I like public, but what the majority wants will be ok. Everyone needs to be happy and I don't think that it really matters if it is in public or personel.

Personal since it is not embroidery related. It's just a simple click to go to personals. Or perhaps a 'Celebration' tab could be installed for birthdays, anniversaries or births.

Birthdays are personal, HOWEVER, everyone loves to hear those very words "Happy Birthday!"... so I would have to vote that they should remain in Public.
I do NOT like seeing bashing or mudslinging on this site because it presents a horrible image to newbies and guests.. birthday announcements however bring a sense of love and unity, so my vote is Public!

I didn't really know what personal was. I figured it was for a personal message from someone and since I don't have a "relationship" with anyone here, there would be nothing there for me to read. I would be reading personal messages sent from one specific person to another specific person. I read public messages. Guess I just incorreclty assumed there would be nothing in "personal" for me to read. Guess I should get in the habit of visitng "personal" as well. I still don't really understand the difference in public or personal. Sorry for my ignorance.

Public was intended for embroidery related questions and comments. Personal for things about your family or or events that don't have anything to do with embroidery.

Cute is a great family, I am so happy to be among, in a family, a birthday of one is a celabretion for all, I think that a birthday is an event for all the community. Thank you to you,Realene who make this work with a great heart.

This is a tough one but I'm going to relate it to my school experience. In the classroom we did class work and stayed on task but when someones birthday came up we would announce it so that person would feel extra special that day. It was an exception to the rule. So that's my answer, an exception to the rule.

I think Public. Newbies haven't had a chance to figure out how we work here (reason 1) and I always see who's birthday it is when I first sign in in the AM (reason2). Those are my reasons and I'm sticking to them. Great job Raelene.

I think as long as there is not a real forum here it's a losing battle as to what gets posted where? At least on a forum there are specific categories and it's easy to navigate and choose what to read or not. And I also realize that a forum here may not be possible and accept that. :-)
With only three categories Public has become a dumping ground for any and everything.True embroidery questions or tips are lost in the maze here.
This is not intended to seem ungrateful, but since I've been a member it's pretty much become a potpourri for anything. And it's not just newbies.

Raelene, the first thing I look for is your sweet face so that I can sing Happy Birthday to that special person on their day. I think it should stay exactly where it has been (public forum) since we started doing it. We are a loving family and what loving family doesn't wish happy birthday to each other, even in the midst of the regular things that go on during the day. Miss Veronika always wishes a happy birthday to the celebrant, so if she doesn't say move it, it stays. It IS her site after all.;)

Other than popping the freebies onto their own page, I like things the way they are. I came here and found an easy going, loving, sharing group of people. It makes me shake my head and wonder when there are those who join, and then want it to change to fit their ideas. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", goes the saying. Or, another way, when I go to "your" house I don't tell you how to rearrange the furniture. Please continue caring and sharing your lives with me.
