must be their lighting.Last year it was machine embroidery cotton & before that silk dupion .I am not colour blind & have had no problem buying purple fabrics before .You can not take back cut fabric unless the is a fault ,threads can be swapped or a refund with the docket .

The lighting is terrible in some of those store! I have had the same problem. And had to work with what I bought.

When I was a child my mother taught me to always go to the door or a window to see the true colour by daylight - I never forgot, although I don't always practice what I preach. (Oh, excuse my split infinitive.)

Only problem with these particular stores is that they are inside shopping malls and they have no windows and the doors mostly lead out into the mall and not outside, so no way of seeing under natural light.

The other problem with spotlight is that most of their staff can't cut straight for peanuts, even with their cutting groove in the counter, and when you point out to them that one end is a meter and the other only 0.8m they get very snitchy and say its the fabrics fault. Un fortunatly big business like this has forced out the smaller fabric shops where you got what you paid for, and SERVICE as well. I'll get off my soap box now and sit back down wuietly in the corner,lol Cheers Ruth

You know Lincraft stores have even worse lighting than Spotlight, I feel like I am going blind when I go to Lincraft.
I really don't like these super fabric stores and I have found lately that their prices are, more often than not, dearer than the little stores.
Thankfully, here at Penrith, we still have lots of great privately owned fabric stores where you can still walk to the door and check the fabric in daylight.
And unlike those greedy, whatcha callem stores, (brain fog, LOL!), the little ones usually cut the fabric in your favour, so you end up with slightly more rather than less.

I walked into Lincrafts store at Erina on Tuesday ,what a pig sty they were rearranging it -at least they have windows the Spotlight shop I was referring to has no windows available .
