I can mention some of the items I've done for my grandsons. How about some bug jars on their shirts? Some pillow cases might be nice. They just love the capes I've made for them. Little personalized tote bags always seem to be enjoyed. An I Spy toy with a boy theme might be appreciated. I'll try to add a few of my pictures. If you are at all like me, visuals are a real help. The next to last picture is of a bunch of small totes I made for a church festival. They are big enough to hold two or three of the Dover little activity books. I hope this helps. Is your grandson into dinos or lizards there are some nice designs at Embroidery Library, they are not freebies but the quality is excellent - just type in lizard or whatever else he is interested in in the search box on the home page.Grandsons are not easy to find designs for as you say. There seems to plenty of designs for baby and todler boys, but as they grow up the problems multiply don't they.

Have made a bag to carry his Bible, other bags of all sorts for art supplies, school things, game components, small toy storage, ITH chalk board, ITH wallet, lunch bag with milk money pocket, and a canvas Easter basket, along with lots of clothing. As he gets older, the designs need to be appropriate for his age. (Don't want teasing.)

I have done projects for my 4 yr old grandson. He loves firetrucks, monster trucks and motorcycles. Bugs and frogs are big on his list too. He loved his new pillow case that we made together when he visited. Little bit of Disneys Car fabric and his name on the band and he was in heaven! :) If your grandson lives nearby, show hi some of the designs that you have and I am sure he will find something he likes!

All the kids I know love cozy fleece blankets that are personalized with name, pictures, or both. I also do pillows for them.

I made my two little grandsons drawstring bags for their collections. I embroidered a helicopter on one and a dump truck on the other and the boys' names in large letters beneath. The older boy hadn't yet started school but he was learning to write his name with a capital letter followed by lower case letters so that's what I did for both the boys. The boys love their own bags.
Drawstring bags are a great way to keep toys together or take them to Grandma's place and any size goes.

Guess from the looks of things you got preety much everything covered. My guess would be fleece throw, towel and wash cloth,canvase bag for going to grandmars house. My grandson like these the best.hugs and flowers, Good Luck!!

what about a Quillow with 'boy' themed designs for sleepovers? They've been popular among our little ones. Byndees has a nice pattern... As well as a book tote with the crayon roll-up in the same fabric. 10j has pattern for that.( for younger ones) I also threw in a fabric book in the theme. Good luck, Sandy
